Is it possible to target your FAT SPOTS?

I have always been told that you can’t target any specific area on your body when it comes to losing weight and up until a few weeks ago that is always what I would tell my clients. Now to some extend I still believe that this is challenging to do so – however not impossible!

Do some individuals carry more weight on our stomachs, hips or arms due to our hormonal build up? I have currently been reading up on how different balances of hormones could have an effect on where we store fat on our body.

Take for instance the type of person that may have more belly fat than anywhere else on their body…do you have really slim legs and carry most of your weight around your middle?

According to some reading I have been doing this could be caused by certain hormones and nutrition imbalances. Do you suffer with:

  • Long periods of stress?
  • Water retention and bloating?
  • Sweating in your sleep?
  • Indigestion and wind?

Well these could be symptoms of high cortisol (the stress hormone) and insulin production (a hormone that stores excess sugar in the blood as fat)

Stress and over consumption of refined sugars and carbohydrates have an impact on these levels.

What can you do to counteract these belly bloating hormones..

  • Go for wholegrains
  • Avoid malt cereals – check the back of your packet!
  • Avoid dairy
  • Eat more protein
  • Love your vegetables
  • Above all…AVOID SUGAR.
